China denies holding talks with Baloch militants for security of CPEC projects

China on Thursday denied holding talks with Baloch militants for the security of development projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said it was satisfied with the measures Pakistan had taken for protection of the CPEC and the Chinese citizens.
“I am not aware of such report,” Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Geng Shuang said responding to a question about a media report in that regard, during his regular press briefing here.
He said Pakistan had raised a security force for the protection of infrastructure development projects being completed under the CPEC and Chinese citizens across the country.
“China is satisfied with the security arrangements Pakistan has taken for the security of the CPEC and the Chinese citizens,” he added.
Financial Times, in its report published on Monday, had claimed that China had been quietly holding talks with Baloch militants for more than five years in an effort to protect the $60 billion worth of infrastructure projects it is financing as part of the CPEC.
